Monochromatic LEDs emit a single color or wavelength of light, making them optimal for unique applications such as plant growth, algae growth, animal environments and aquarium lighting. They can even solve a longstanding problem facing sea turtles: outdoor lighting can disorient hatchling sea turtles who are drawn to the bright light of the sun or moon. By using special LED colors that exclude blue wavelengths in street lamps, "turtle-safe lighting" can be used to light the way to the ocean along beaches.
