Taitien Electronics SX and SY type spread spectrum oscillators (SSXO) are designed to tackle multiple EMI challenges by dispersing energy to reduce peak interference and assist in EMC compliance. As processor speeds and data rates in electronic systems continue to increase, electromagnetic interference (EMI) has created challenges for design engineers. Traditional EMI-reduction methods like filtering and shielding can help, but they also use a relatively large amount of board space. Another option is to reduce EMI at the source by marginally varying the clock frequency over time. This technique spreads the signal’s energy across a wider frequency band, thereby lowering peak energy at the fundamental frequency. EMI reduction is critical for regulatory testing, which includes measurements taken at peak power and in a narrow bandwidth.
